Taçoy: We want the renovation of the Sınırüstü People’s Foundation Elderly Care Home to be completed as soon as possible

Minister of Labor and Social Security Hasan Taçoy visited the Sınırüstü People’s Foundation Elderly Care Home and examined the renovation works. Attending the visit was Director of China Bazaar Mazhar Iqbal Choudhry, and Kamtek Director Ali Kamacıoğlu – both of whom voluntarily undertake the care home’s renovation works – as well as Deputy General Manager of the Foundations Administration Mehmet Güneş, Association of Elderly Rights & Mental Health Chairperson Hatice Jenkins. While the renovation works carried out in the nursing home were examined, views were exchanged on the solution of some problems experienced.

Taçoy

Minister of Labor and Social Security, Hasan Taçoy, stated that they want the renovation of the Sınırüstü People’s Foundation Elderly Care Home to be completed as soon as possible and stated that there is a lack of buildings in the country to serve people with disabilitieas and older persons. Taçoy stated that the continuing work will make the nursing home more efficient and active, and that they want it to be opened in a way that will provide the best service by cooperating with non-governmental organizations. Noting that the purpose of their visit was to examine the renovation and to determine a road map, Taçoy stated that they wanted to the nursing home to open once all the deficiencies were dealt with. Thanking China Bazaar Director Mazhar Iqbal Choudhry and Kamtek Director Ali Kamacıoğlu, Taçoy said that the works will be completed and the building will be put into service with the support of the Foundations Administration, Ministry of Health, Social Services Department and non-governmental organizations. Taçoy noted that they also held talks with the Republic of Turkey, and they also providing support.
Kamacioglu

Kamtek Director Ali Kamacıoğlu stated that they have been continuing the renovation works at the Sınırüstü People’s Foundation Elderly Care Home for a year and a half, and the work that started as changing the roof was continued as the renovation of the entire building due to collapses in the building and other infrastructure problems. Kamacıoğlu said, “When we saw the situation here, our conscience did not allow to change only the roof, and we had to dismantle and renovate the entire building,” said Kamacıoğlu, adding that they were left alone in this process and that they had difficulties in finding an interlocutor. Kamacıoğlu said, “This place is all of ours, our only goal is to help. There is criticism. But no one is helping,” he said.

Choudhry

Mazhar Iqbal Choudhry, Director of China Bazaar, said that he decided to help after seeing the situation at the Sınırüstür People’s Foundation Elderly Care Home, saying, “This place was in a very bad condition. We started by renovating the roof, but we renewed the entire building,” he said. Choudry expressed that they want to complete and hand over the building as soon as possible and stated that everyone should do their part.

Jenkins

Association of Elderly Rights & Mental Health Chairperson Hatice Jenkins said that they had warned about the care home for years, and that they had been waiting for it to be delivered for a year and a half. Noting that the nursing home is important for the poor and elderly in the region, Jenkins said that it should be completed in a short time and put into service. “This place is on 40 acres of state land. We can’t let this land go to anyone,” said Jenkins, adding that they wanted the building to be completed by supporting the volunteers and solving the coordination deficiencies.

Güneş

Mehmet Güneş, Deputy Director General of the Foundations Administration, also stated that the philanthropists continue their renovation works. Güneş stated that the Foundations Administration will do its part together with the stakeholders.
